Logo Design & Applications

Overview

Head Mark Productions was an event planning company that created packaged pro wrestling shows for fundraising. They worked with non-profit organizations and private parties to develop fun ways to help raise money while providing family-friendly entertainment. I was hired to create an identity for the business and design the collateral for their first event.

In the world of professional wrestling, a "mark" is an insider term for a die-hard fan so I chose to incorporate a fist pump graphic to the ascender of the "k" to help connect the name with the company's platform. The font choice and stylization of the logo further convey the rough and tumble nature of the industry. The color palette is intended to be unconventional. This company targets family-friendly audiences so I used yellow as my primary base to energize the tone and complemented it with purple to add a sense of oddity with respect to the wrestling industry's carnival roots.

The design for the flyers and advertising posters was influenced by old school wrestling posters but with a contemporary flair. I wanted to create an immediate sense of nostalgia to adult wrestling fans who might be interested in bringing their kids to an indie show.
